And who, you might be wondering, am I?
I am just a person. There is nothing spectacular about me. I am no celebrity. Nobody notable. There would be no reason anyone should know me unless our paths have crossed through our journeys in life. I am just an ordinary person.
But I am also a person who has eyes. A person who has a heart. I am someone who values life; someone who believes in sharing; someone who RECOGNIZES that I am just another person, one of billions who share the same world. I can do some things that others can’t. And there are many who have strengths that I do not. Overall, we are all just people.
The way humanity is acting in recent years though, it appears I am in the minority.
Our world is driven by greed and selfishness. It is driven by those who value material wealth over life; by those who crave power; by those who think that they are somehow better than everyone else based on the flimsiest of evidence. Somehow being born in this section of land make me better than other humans. Or maybe it is because I follow this code of ethics. Perhaps it is my skin color. Or it is because I own more shiny rocks than you do.
And these people, who think that THEY know how the world should be run, because they have decided that it is their right and duty since they are supposedly better, do their best to convince everyone else that their self-deception is the truth. Unfortunately, the facts don’t really bear this up, so we find that they often use force and violence to bring people in line, disguising it as something for good of all. We are systematically teaching our children that greed, selfishness, and violence are the ways to get what you want.
And it is only getting worse.
Enter my idea.
In a recent wave of violence I found myself despairing of humanity. And desperate to do my part to change the direction humanity seems determined to follow. But as I said, I am only one ordinary person, and in recent years have had difficulty controlling my OWN destiny, let alone that of humanity. But I am not one to give into despair. Instead I came up with a crazy idea. I KNOW I am not the only person fed up with the way humanity seems to have lost its way (even if it feels like it sometimes). So maybe if we could all manage to get together and work in unison … well maybe together we can stem the tide. So I decided to try to found an internet nation. I am still just one man, with a few friends supporting the idea, but this is the first step into making the idea a reality.
Maybe my idea is insane. Maybe I have no chance of making something like this happen. Or maybe I am not really the person to do it. All I know is I need to try. No idea will ever get anywhere if one does not at least let the idea out in the open.
So how about it folks? Who wants to help me change the world?

For some reason, your “modest proposal” in this post reminded me of an editorial once published in a UK newspaper. G.K. Chesterton was asked to write on the subject of “What is Wrong with the World?” Chesterton’s essay went like this – “I am.”
