A tragic week

red-cross

Just a quick note for those still considering making a small pledge to the charity of your choice, related to the number of training or hiking miles Steve and I complete, or the number of combined pounds we lose while in training for our hike.

As you all know, there have been recent terrible tragedies in Boston and in the small town of West, Texas.

Both cities are surely in need of all charitable donations they can get. Unfortunately, in this crazy world we live in, both cities are currently besieged by scores of FAKE charities that pop up in the immediate aftermath of any disaster.

If you would like to make a pledge towards a charity in Boston or in the Central Texas area, I would urge you to pledge to a charity that you know, such as the Red Cross or some other National Charity, so that you are sure your money will get to those in need. A GOOGLE search of each disaster should yield a sufficient list of reputable charities in each location.

If you make a pledge based on miles or pounds, once your time-frame for the pledge has been met, you make the donation directly to that charity of your choice, with Steve and I not being involved in the process in any way.

If you wish to make a short-term pledge to donate to charity of these disasters, I am sure Steve and I will do our best to walk/bike and lose as many pounds as possible over the coming weeks in order to benefit the charities of your choosing.

(I am pledging $3.00 for each combined pound lost by Steve and I from the time we started our training up until June 1st of this year, to be donated to the Red Cross, in support of victims in Texas and Boston)

Thanks again for all your support. If you are considering a small pledge towards our training, please consider helping the victims in Boston and in Texas.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected in Boston and in Texas.

Thanks and have a great day!
