About time we had a rainbow!

With the crazy weather lately, fluctuating between unexpected and often violent thunderstorms and hot, hot , hot cloudless skies, it is a wonder we haven’t had more rainbows. The timing just has not been quite right. Today nature got it right, and I happened to be get a few shots before it disappeared. Phones these days often outshoot my camera, but this is one way where the camera still dominates! All the pictures have been adjusted slightly for color saturation and contrast (in roughly the same manner — different software).

Another cool moon shot

As I have mentioned before, I rarely do much editing of my photos beyond some cropping and maybe a bit of color correction. Sometimes, if I feel inspired creatively, I might try to more aggressively use editing software. And there are certain situation that require some editing if I want to display what I am trying to display. Images of the moon often fall under this category. Either from lack of the proper equipment, or lack of skill of the photographer (most likely a bit of both), getting images like this one require a bit of creative license (at least for me). I am no expert at photo editing, as is evident in the image, but the final result is a fair representation of what I saw last night. Enjoy!

Hunter's moon remix

I usually don’t do much editing of my photos, beyond some cropping and white balance adjustment. But sometimes I get the urge to play with some photos. Moon shots are one area I often take liberties with, partially because I have a long way to go to mastering the art of TAKING such photos, partially to learn editing techniques, and partially because the results can be kind of cool. I combined a couple of shots I took last night. The result may not be a work of art, but I think it is not a bad effort for a novice at photo manipulation.

I have not been using my camera much lately. This is partly because I have been spending a lot of time overhauling this site and organizing the MANY photos already here. But it is also due to a lack of motion in my life at the moment. I kind of got tired of taking the “same” pictures over and over again. However I have been repeatedly reminded that there is always something new to see if we allow ourselves to … usually in those moments I have no camera of course. So, while I may not always have my camera , I make sure I at least have my phone. Fortunate recently for thanks to the recent changes in weather I have had a few images I might have regretted missing …
