Out of my way!!!

It is amazing how sometimes even the most benign people suddenly grow fangs and sharp claws as soon as they get behind the wheel of a car. I have lived in several parts of the country, and everywhere people have their views of where the worst a most aggressive drivers come from, but my personal experience is that cars act like crack on the average human being. There really should be a surgeon general’s warning on all vehicles.

I have fond memories of my little mom sitting in a car such as a Chevy Chevette, at the light next to the muscle car that had been tailgating her for so long, gunning the engine and beating the monster off the line as soon as the light turned green. With an appropriate evil laugh accompaniment. Of course said muscle car would be beyond sight in seconds, but she always beat them off the line!

Yesterday, as we drove towards pending overindulgence (Thanksgiving dinner), traffic was less than ideal. Pretty much moving a fraction of the speed limit and wall to wall cars. Of course there were numerous examples of car madness about, but I found one specific incident a tad humorous so I am sharing here. We finally got to the exit we wanted, and were first in line at a light. It was red so out of general fear of death my mom ""(who was driving) actually stopped. Strange that, I know. The light turned green, and before the wavelengths of light actually had a chance to reach the eye, the car behind us honked. No doubt the driver behind us had her senses heightened by the car fix she was on, since I have very fast reflexes and I was barely even aware the light had changed. My mother stepped on the gas and moved forward, only to have the car behind us zip around in a maniacal need to get exactly one car length ahead of us. Of course the road was still wall to wall cars, so this pretty much was a waste of effort on this drivers part, but oh well.

We hit another red light, with the less than patient driver right in front of us, and a few cars between her and the light. With a joyous giggle (the only way I can describe it), my mother got her revenge.

She honked her horn!

I just had to laugh!
