Lake at sunset ... OR ...

Perspective seems to be on my mind for a change. Perspective, as anyone who has braved this collection of random words that might be perceived as a “blog” might have noticed, is a common theme in my sharings. One of the skills I value most is my ability to shift perspective with little effort. This ability is actually the core to how I interact with the world; as well as one of the keys to embracing my own creativity.

I am not really sure why I am even writing about it now, except I am in one of those “I want to write but have nothing to write about” moods. That was simply not acceptable so I did my thang, shifted my perspective and suddenly I have something to say. Possibly something of no interest to anyone else, or even of questionable coherence, but the point is “nothing” became “something” by looking at it a different way.

Perspective and perception are intimately related, and both kind of define our world for us. How we perceive things is the direct result of the perspective we are looking from. Perception is the reality. But perception can change, simply by shifting perspective. This is a rather wordy and probably incomprehensible to some way of saying …

WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO CHANGE OUR REALITY!

... a snowfield?

I say it is simple, but for many it is not. We often become so comfortable with a certain way of looking at things; doing things; that we find it extremely difficult to try looking at or doing them in a different way. That is if we even recognize the possibility that there IS a different way.  From my perspective ( 😉 ) this is a fundamental basis of much of the conflict in the world. If we all learned to occasionally shift our “angle of view”, we might find that we actually suddenly understand where those that view the world differently are coming from.

I am finding that as I am wandering down this particular path, my earlier “nothing” actually has turned into a potential novel, so I will stop my meanderings here. Just one last thought. The next time you can’t seem to grasp something, or can’t seem to find what you are looking for; or face any kind of difficulty … try just stepping to the right a little (figuratively and/or literally) and shift the perspective a bit. You might find that this is all it takes to now see what was eluding you.

**I was tempted to flip this whole post like I did the title, but figured it would be cruel … and make it so NO ONE wanted to read it haha
