The price of apples!

I love apples.

I am eating one right now.

I am allergic to apples.

Did I mention I am eating one right now?

This seems to be a common theme in my life. I am the eternal “took the one less traveled by” man. Not sure if this is good or bad, but it is me.

I have no idea what I am writing for a change! I haven’t been consistent in writing in my blog for a couple of weeks now. Wrestling with the whole why bother thang. Today I was determined to write something, yet had no idea what. So as often is the case when I am idea-less, I caught up on my favorite blogs, reading some of the posts I have missed for both entertainment, and inspiration.

So I began to alphabetically go down the links on my page. A Girl Called Pete: nothing new in a bit. Ahhsome: also taking a little break. athursdayschild: seems also to be on a break.

Oh oh! Might be on my own in the inspiration department. Or here’s a thought. Actually go to a NEW blog! But in my bull-headed way I continued down my list. Mike’s Take: oops. Missed him by mistake. Need to swing on over. PissyKittysLitterBox: bam! good ole slap upside the head. Not only a very insightful post but a glimmer of an idea. But still not quite there. reinventing the event horizon: amazing and inspiring as always. And the idea grows. THE IDIOT SPEAKETH: always a laugh, and also an inspiration. The Ramblings: the same. Always a laugh and at the same time inspiring. Thypolar’s Life Uncensored: an insightful look at life as always. Woman Wielding Words: go sis go! Except she is taking a break too!

Hows that for some gratuitous site promotions!

Why do we do what we do? Why don’t we do what we don’t? Why did I eat an apple when I know I am allergic? Why am I seemingly randomly throwing words down that may not even be read? Why do we in fact even get up every morning?

There is a very simple answer to all of these question. We do because we can. And because we choose to. It really that simple. Everything we do in life is a choice. Even the concept of being happy or sad is a choice. Happiness is not a gift given to us; it is not a something that can be found. It is a choice.

Everything is a choice! I am not saying that things will just simply happen if we choose that they do. There will very likely be other choices that need to be made to ultimately reach one’s goal. And there may be interference from circumstances beyond our control. But still our life and how we live it is totally based on the choices we make.

If you think your life is boring, that is because you choose to think your life is boring. Choose to find the excitement in it. Or choose to change things so it is not boring to you. If you are unhappy, choose to be happy. Do what you need to do to make yourself happy. Sometimes it could just simply be to look at something with a different perspective.  Sometimes it may take a more effort.

Not sure how to do this? Take a look at the blogs I listed above. And take a look at the other blogs that they point you to. They are all real people who have chosen to embrace the lives they have and share them with others. They find the joy in the mundane; they know the cleansing power of sorrow. They choose to live. And  to share.

Guess what I am ramblingly saying is we choose the paths we travel. So there is no use being unhappy if we find that the choice didn’t work out as we hoped. Life is exciting and wonderful and boring and painful and whole slew of other things. There is no map to guide us along its paths. All we can do is choose where to put our feet each moment and see where that path takes us. I guarantee that you WILL always get where you are going. It just may not be where you thought you were headed. On the other hand where’s the fun in knowing all the answers in advance?

I am going to thoroughly enjoy my apple!
