Vanishing

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This past week was an oddly quick one.

Considering my adventure today changing the house water filter, the prompt for this week’s 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups is eerily appropriate. The prompt is:

…but where does the water go?…

I am not quite sure where I will take it, but I simply could not pass on such a “coincidence”. So here goes:

The well tended path ran along a bubbling stream. Birds were singing in delight; the air held the fresh scent of a healthy forrest grove. Trevor could not reconcile this peaceful scene with Auric’s disquiet. They continued along the path, and Trevor began feeling an odd tension in the air. Suddenly it was very quiet, and all that was heard was the water washing along its path.

Then Trevor saw it. The stream entered an area of  … distortion … and was  … GONE. Everything else remained as it should be. “But where does the water go?”, he asked, confused.

“That’s why you are here,” Auric softly replied.
