It’s monday (sort of)

Now that I am getting more back to my normal life … i.e. not having a clue what day it is or where I am, I feel like I am more prepared for the hike. It seems only appropriate that I do my monday weigh in and update on a random day that may or not actually be monday. So is it monday today? While I am still not doing all that much in the documentable miles and pounds lost yet (Mark is still getting all the gold stars on the angel list) I am kind of proud of my fitness progress so far. I practiced that whole pushing beyond the limits thang last week. Did all my Team Beach Body Combat workouts with proper growls and flexes, ensuring the swoons of all the beach clad beauties that my oxygen starved imagination could come up with. And when it came to my official rest day, I formally and loudly said “PSHAW!!!” and went and hiked a mountain. The very same mountain that did it’s best to maim me just a few weeks ago. The pesky pile o’ rocks even did it’s best to shake us by throwing freezing temperatures and wet muddy rocks in our way. But I handled it like a mountain goat on caffeine, and was ready to ingest that decadent birthday meal right afterwards without even having to sleep for two hours!! So stats as of the past week (whichever week that was) :

Miles walked: 6.9 … 3.9 of it mountain miles, for a total of 41.994 so far.

Weight: 236 … I have hit a temporary wall as far as actual weight loss, but I am definitely shrinking in all the right places. So till a 9 lb total loss so far.

Seriously, the difference between the first time I did that hike this year and this time was actually uplifting. Last time as I was struggling to make the last steps for a seeming lifetime, wondering what made me think my self abused body could ever make 2200 miles of sometimes very tough terrain, when I can barely do one small mountain. This time, I was all ready to have a noce meal by the campfire, and get a good nights sleep for the next day of hiking! It really is amazing what we can do if we take OURSELVES out of the picture. Most of our limits are really in our minds!
