Under the moon …

Le pleine lune … It doesn’t matter where in the world we are, we can all look up and see the same moon.

Humanity is teetering on the edge of a cliff.

The solid ground beside us is a world of beauty; a world ripe with possibility. There ARE a few who chose to wander the glorious gardens of possibility. A few who chose to explore its wonders and follow it into a bright future.

But oh so few.

It often seems that humanity as a whole would rather stand at the edge and look below into the untold shadowy depths. Worse yet some seem intent on trying to push the rest of us over the edge. Some wake up at that point and struggle to regain balance; to return to the beauty of the world.

And many still fall.

It is even more disheartening that so many seem so jealous of their own little section of ground; so intent that the world be shaped to their own selfish needs, that they wrestle with each other, oblivious to both the surrounding wonder … and the edge they stand so near.

Humanity is teetering on the edge of a cliff.

Yet there are still those few. Beacons of light in the growing shadows. Because they shine so, they stand out. To each other, and to those who actually dare look up from the shadows. And as a result islands of the purest brightness form; base camps for the exploration of possibility; havens of joy and laughter.

I was fortunate enough to be invited into one such camp just the other day. A group of people from all over the world, from all different backgrounds who share a few simple things: roughly the same amount of time wandering through the world of possibility, and a simple love of life. This particular island takes the form of a chat group on Facebook.

Often the greatest wisdom can be found in such joyful simplicity.

One of my new friends, someone I have only just met to share some laughter with, recently posted the lovely comment I quoted above. The profundity of that statement struck me with such force that … well you are seeing the result.

Humanity needs to look up again. We need to look into the sky and see the moon. And the sun. We need to remember that whatever differences we perceive in each other; whatever petty quibbles we can create, are ultimately meaningless. For the simple fact of the matter is we are all under the same moon. Under the same sun. We are all human, all part of the glorious world.

Stop fighting. Stop looking down. Stop seeking the depths; the mystery of the shadows, and explore the brightness that awaits us. The world of possibility is boundless; the shadows only a trap. It is time to look up again humanity!

Let’s choose to step away from the edge.
