Growing the spirit

One must exercise the body, the mind and the spirit. Before we can strengthen the mind and spirit, we must make sure that it’s container … the body … is heading towards optimum. So physical exercise is the first step.[/vc_message][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Exercise is important, but a truly healthy body is also dependent on what we put into it. We live in a society where profit and frankly … pleasure … takes the forefront to good sense. It is easy to succumb to simple and fast foods, because many of us live very busy lives, and face it … they often taste REALLY good. Having something for the sheer pleasure of it is not always a bad thing, but the key to healthy eating habits is paying attention to what exactly we are eating, and MODERATION. There are many ways of doing this. Such sites as MyFitnessPal.com can be very helpful for not only tracking our intake, but how much you are burning off as well. Exercise is most effective when accompanied by changes in our eating habits. That does not mean fad diets … but actually changing our lifestyle. We can all do it … even if we might need some help at times! I have learned a few tricks, and am constantly learning more.

However physical intake is not the end of it. We also need sustenance for the mind and spirit. These also need to be exercised, just like the physical body. Physical health is the foundation to improving these other aspects of self, but we cannot stop with just focusing on the physical body, and expect to be the best we can be. So I also work on strengthening my mind, through exercise and, yes such a thing DOES exist, food for the mind. And again, I do not stop there. For we are not complete with out a healthy spirit as well. Sometimes I focus on one aspect of self-improvement, sometimes I focus on them all at once. Growing ourselves is an ongoing process!!
