It seems to once again be Monday, which means it is time for … DUN DUN DUNNNNN …
THE OFFICIAL WEIGH IN!
I am not sure why I am shouting it to the masses this Monday, since my progress was not one to impress the them. I definitely am not a contender for the Weight Loss Poster boy this past week, nor is Muscle Magazine and Walker’s Digest knocking on my door. Fortunately my progress was not anti-gress either. It was basically just gress.
So my gress for week 6:
- 0 miles walked, bringing my total up (or is that down) to 35.094.
- 0 lbs lost, which means my total loss is still -8, and I still weigh about 237.
I am not actually disappointed by this, because my gress was of the pro variety in other ways. I didn’t manage to get many walking miles in, but I upped my current workout schedule, and can say that possibly the lack of negative lbs might be related to a certain level of muscle development. I may not WEIGH less, but I am now down two belt holes from when I started on April 1, and I fit in many clothes that winced at the site of me just a couple of months ago.
Beyond that, I have collected some useful tips about supplies and planning for the trip, gotten a few vague ideas about how to get more interest on the pledging side, gotten a new hat that will no doubt be all the rage in a year, gotten some proper hiking sneakers and a day pack so I can actually survive the TRAINING, and been informed that one or two useful trinkets will be coming my way on my upcoming birthday. All in all not really a week to be ashamed of.
Highlights: the trip has become more real, because money has actually been sent on it. Now i just need to actually get an income. Lowlights: really good bacon and other goodies at yesterday’s Mother’s Day brunch. 🙂
P.S. As I am writing this it seems Mark has gotten back from his recent journey to visit the newest member of the clan, and is reporting a similar amount of gress. So I am going with we both took a small break last week!

This past week was just a small hiccup in our progress…………… We are back into training mode now…… honest……………. (psssst!……..pass the bacon!) 🙂
I wonder how well the new hiking stove rumor has it I am getting for my birthday will cook bacon. Yep THAT stove! 🙂
I’ll be happy if we can successfully boil water without getting third-degree burns on the both of us……………. 🙂
If you both die because of that stove I will be very unhappy, since it was my idea to give it to. And Steve, you cannot be blamed for the bacon issue when they made it the first available item. Did you see the pile Sarah took? It was as big as her face.
I will make sure to get a lot of practice in!
You guys need to do your breakfasts like my Dad did, back in the early 70s on our epic family vacations. After kicking us out of our warm motel beds and grinding out at LEAST 100 miles, he’d pull over at some roadside bench, fire up the stove, put the old cast iron skillet on it, cook up the bacon (no trimming, full fat), then throw the eggs in ON TOP. Yep, just cooked all that stuff together, then dished it up so we could eat it half warm and half cold (the stuff would ALWAYS get old before we could eat a plateful) while sitting on the edge of a highway freezing our butts off, then back onto the road for 10-11 hours of driving, straight through.
Lord, I think I officially had arteriosclerosis at the age of 9! 😀
You sure you don’t want to be a Boy Friday?
