]]>I was looking at this week’s 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups prompt with this motive in mind, and …
… drew a complete blank.
Determined, I put my thinking cap on, or … more correctly … took my thinking cap OFF, and slept on it. My subconscious kicked in, resulting in this bit of creative nonsense:
This week’s prompt:
…why does the world fight back when…

Hope.
Which brings us to this week’s 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups …
…would this be the day when life changed…
It was dark. Oh so dark.
As it always was.
The persistent question surfaced again, as it always did. He asked it out loud. It echoed off into the darkness, repeating endlessly, fading into the realm of the unheard. He didn’t expect an answer. He never did.
But this time …
Did the echo change? Or did someone answer?
He vocalized again. “Would this be the day when life changed?” The echoes rang again, then subtly shifted. An answer, barely heard at first, but growing stronger and stronger.
“Yes. Every day is.”
With that, he opened his eyes at last.

Humor aside, this seems to be how the whole world operates … with as little sense behind it. War is the ultimate failing of the human condition. It combines all of the WORST aspects of human nature in the most destructive way possible, with the benefits rarely worth the harm to life and property. Sadly there are those who continue to fan the flames, usually for personal profit, though sometimes it might be misguided ideology. With greed and selfishness being another strong human trait, is peace ever possible?
As long as those of us who value life and the growth of ALL of humanity over the selfish desires of the few work for it, of course it is possible. But it may be a long process … one day at a time. One organization that recognizes this is moving to make September 21 Peace One Day , one day of the year dedicated to an end to all hostilities, that hopefully will become two, then three, etc. A worthy cause. In honor of this goal, we have today’s 100 Word Challenge for Grownups:
This week’s prompt:
“Who is the enemy?”
The Angry Man answered, “Isn’t it obvious?”
“Why are they the enemy?”
“Because the media and my government says so!” shouted The Angry Man. “They are evil! They will destroy our way of life!”
“They are different!” he continued, “They threaten my comfort.”
And then he paused.
“I fear them.”
“Are these reasons for war? Is peace not possible?”
The Agitated Man answered, “Maybe!? I am not sure ”
“Who will you make peace with?”
Stepping away from the mirror, The Thoughtful Man answered, “I will start with myself.”

The cynical side of me tells me, “This is your imagination so, Pay attention! … to what you are doing.”
The realist in me recognizes that something is on my mind, so I am subconsciously finding connections.
And the oblivious side of me says, “Huh? What?”

]]>In order to limit my collection of nefarious deeds, I keep myself busy creating and such. Hence my vast collection of blogs. However recently, my staff of muses decided to take an extended vacation. Fortunately, I still am but a novice ne’er-do-well (mostly from a lack of funds from being a master lay-about), so all I really do is twiddle my thumbs or brood when I am not laying about. I am not sure if the muses left because of my lack of motivation, or visa versa. In either case, the vast collection has gone seriously wanting (especially THIS blog).
Guess it’s time to change that. Hoping to bring the muses back home (or maybe they snuck in without me even noticing), I am once again taking up the pencomputer, hopefully on a regular basis. What better way to reignite the creativity then a prompt from the 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups? This seems an ironically appropriate reentry into the 100WCGU world, considering I am travelling and living in a hotel. But me being me, I figured I would go with a slightly different twist. Enjoy …
The In family was having an argument. The Ins were often in the outs. The argument was basically a silly one. Looking said, “It is not! I saw nothing on the telly about it!”
Moving twitched with irritation. “As if they always get it right! Just look at the clouds Looking!”
Checking started to say something, then checked himself. He focused internally. “I can feel it in my joints. It’s gonna happen!”
Looking gave Checking an irritated look. Moving moved like he was going to hug Checking.
Soon, it began to snow. Moving and Checking In proved to be right.

]]>…READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!…
Let’s see if I still have what it takes …
I watched as she whispered something in Richard’s ear. He absent mindedly nodded, opening the box at the same time. She shrugged, shared an conspiratorial smile with me, and left the room with her musical laugh ringing in the air.
Richard looked focused. He looked determined. He looked calm and ready. Well for about three minutes, until he had trouble opening the box.
I suspect she said, “Read the instructions!”
The challenge for me was if (and when) I should offer assistance. I was still emotionally bruised from the last time I offered to help. And so the song and dance began again.

Tell us what happened here!” Robert said sternly.
Huddled down in the wreckage of the camp, Mobutu looked shaken. He said with fear, “It come,” Robert offered his hand, and Mobutu hesitantly took it, raising shakily to his feet. He continued, the fear still evident, “Demon cat come, and take stone.”
“What about the guards?” Robert almost shouted.
Mobutu looked ashamed as he said, “Cat just look, and guards freeze. On the cat walk, and … stone gone.”
With an exasperated sigh, Robert looked toward Gray. The old man shrugged. “Obviously an enchantment was involved.”
“What NOW?” Robert grumbled disgustedly.

]]>Considering my adventure today changing the house water filter, the prompt for this week’s 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups is eerily appropriate. The prompt is:
…but where does the water go?…
I am not quite sure where I will take it, but I simply could not pass on such a “coincidence”. So here goes:
The well tended path ran along a bubbling stream. Birds were singing in delight; the air held the fresh scent of a healthy forrest grove. Trevor could not reconcile this peaceful scene with Auric’s disquiet. They continued along the path, and Trevor began feeling an odd tension in the air. Suddenly it was very quiet, and all that was heard was the water washing along its path.
Then Trevor saw it. The stream entered an area of … distortion … and was … GONE. Everything else remained as it should be. “But where does the water go?”, he asked, confused.
“That’s why you are here,” Auric softly replied.
