I seem to be failing in my Idiot duties again. Technically I have been fully embracing my Inner Idiot, both for the sake of now and future adventures. I have just been failing to DOCUMENT it. So here I am, sitting in my new office, getting caught up on my recent wild adventures.
Many moons ago, my favorite watering hole went and burned itself up slightly. Now we all know how important watering holes are to nature, so as can be imagined I have been suffering greatly for months. Fortunately it has been rebuilt, and I spent the last few days getting re-acquainted with it. Fortunately it is two and a half miles away from my house, which means a good five miles of walking (if I actually walk both ways). Unfortunately, in my zeal to get re-acquainted, I neglected to drink all that much actual WATER. Fortunately, the resultant extreme dehydration is good training for any potential problems on the hike.
So I have decided to make the watering hole my center of operations from now on. I will walk there and back, with a pack on my back, thus getting some training in. I will actually have social interaction, which might actually be beneficial to keeping me motivated as well as promoting things. And I will have more incentive to get my income stream actually incoming so I don’t spend all my money there.
I know what you are think … it is a brilliant plan. If that is NOT what you are thinking (most likely) … allow me to keep the illusion.
Anyway, pack is bought. Recent plans to test it out ran into foul weather, so it is still untested. The list of what else is needed is starting to become more of an actual list, and less of a series of vague images. I still need to figure out how to make the whole financial aspect of this thing work, but it has always been my experience that if you truly what to make something happen, then it will happen. Using finances to kill a dream is just an excuse. I will find a way.
I can’t blather on much longer right now. My new office is lacking in convenient plugs and my computer needs a new battery. But I wanted to let the masses know where I was at (literally and figuratively).
You might want to do some checking, in your area, for a store that sells a spray-on product called “Camp Dry”. It’s sort of a water-proofing spray – it won’t stop water if you dump your pack in a river or lake, but it’ll keep out most of the rain and all dews. And it works on literally anything, so you can spray it on your cotton (or denim) pants, and walk through dewy tall grass without getting wet. I just keep trying to think of things to help you guys out – short of renting an ATV and driving you guys the whole way, which I want to do SO badly! 😉 But I know you both want to tough it out, so I’ll just sit back and pray … er .. encourage you from a distance. And keep an open line to the nearby National Guard base so I can borrow a Black Hawk and come rescue you guys – you know, just in case….. 😀
Some good ideas there! Including the vehicles on call! 😀
